Christmas Makes

Turned Baubles
Christmas is a time for making. And there is never enough time. I had so many plans for Christmas makes this year but the house move meant that most of them had to go on hold for this year, the making time between moving and Christmas this year was mostly spent on house things. One or two makes for Dougie and of course my sister’s 50th birthday quilt.

We had to have  a few new Christmas decorations for our new house. These are lovely. They are hand turned wooden baubles made by our friend Les Symmonds at Otter Woodcraft in Bala. He recently returned to the lathe and has made some beautiful things over the year. When he posted his photographs of these I could see them joining our collection. They are all different woods; one is of Shropshire yew, one of pitch pine and the third is a West African exotic hardwood called amazaque (or ovangkol). They are all beautiful.

Christmas makes here have been a new festive table runner, some bright Christmas cushions and matching lampshade and bunting to brighten up Dougie’s room.

….and, of course, Elf.IMG_3630
