Just before Christmas, and with unfinished projects sitting waiting, I walked into Aberdashery and there were three roles of wonderful double weave Scandi-style fabric. How fabulously festive! I saw cushions, they would make the red accent more intense for Christmas, and I walked home thinking about measurements and weighing up braiding versus binding and not thinking about the UFOs waiting. The fabric beckoned to me again that evening when one of them appeared as the Aberdashery Christmas cover picture right there on Facebook. Needless to say I was back the next day with measurements. One whole roll had gone already so I was glad I’d moved fast. By the time I went back for braiding a couple of days later the whole lot had be sold. Hot cakes!
Well luckily for my other UFOs the cushions were incredibly quick to make, just one afternoon of sewing. Adding the braiding around the edges was slow though and a few evenings were taken up with hand stitching.
I had been thinking about recovering some of the cushions and have thought many times of seasonal covers. Now I have begun and what have I started? Now the next seasonal change is in the planning stage ready for when the lovely festive cushions need to be stored away for next year.
